Challenge Islamophobia Project (2017-2019)

After teaching about Muslims and Islamophobia for several years, I was increasingly frustrated by how few teaching resources connected anti-Muslim bigotry with white supremacy and U.S. imperialism. I wrote a series of creative and interactive lesson plans to challenge Islamophobia and I taught the lessons in teacher workshops throughout the country.

In addition to the Challenge Islamophobia Project website, I wrote an article about one of the lessons, which was featured on the cover of Rethinking Schools Magazine. The lesson was also included in two curriculum books, Teaching for Black Lives and Rethinking Ethnic Studies.
