Take a Good Look in the Mirror (2022)

Through the Bresler Fellowship at VisArts in Rockville, MD, I spent the summer of 2022 building two prototypes for a project called Take A Good Look In The Mirror, a series of mirrors framed by Pentagon-shaped handmade clay tiles and decorated with texts and images that tell a provocative story about the Global War on Terror. The idea is that you see a beautiful mirror and as you get closer to it and absorb the text and images, you realize that this is not the sanitized version of the story we are used to hearing. Then you see your image in the mirror, asking you to reflect on your place in the story. I shared the first versions of these mirrors in my first solo artist show in January 2023 at VisArts.
